We meet this family in October 2008 when we was members of the Bikers For Christ and after becoming Faith Ryders members we have done our best to help them any way we can since then. Their financial needs are great, as they have to make several trips weekly to other hospitials to get his treatments.
"AIDEN'S STORY"
My name is Aiden Riley Bugg. I am 17 months old and I was born on November 4th, 2007 and I weighed 5lbs. My mother is Shannon and my Father is James. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers at home too.
In March of 2008 my mom & dad found me unresponsive and had to call 911, they took me to New River Valley Medical Center where they discovered that my heart was enlarged. They didnt have the equipment to help me so they flew me to UVA for treatment. When I arrived they put me in PICU, after a couple of days they said I was gravely ill and they didnt know if I was going to make it. After alot of tests and strong meds, I turned around and started getting better, they said I had cardiomyopathy and had a stroke in the cellarbellon part of the brain. after being stable for 11 days,I was released. We then got a good report on his heart being back to 100% on March 27,2008.
In April of 2008 I was sent back to UVA for genetics testing for glactocymic when they thought my liver was enlarged and done a enzyme test which said it was fine.
On April 8th,2008 , went to the heart doctor for followup and she found a tumor on my right kidney and refered me to peds oncology & hematology clinic the very next day. On April 24,2008 we discovered Aiden had a wilmo tumor which had taken his whole right kidney and it had to be removed. We done 6 radiation treatments and 24 weeks of chemo. We finished that in November of 2008. We went back for checkup and to see if we could get the brouiac out. They found that he had relasped and he had 2 nodules in his lungs. He has lung cancer in both lungs. We have done 8 radiation treatments and we have 25 weeks of chemo left to do. We will finish up some time in July 2009.
On March 9th 2009 , we went to RMH and they couldnt figure out what was wrong. Why he had to be on oxygen and why his stats wouldnt come up. So they sent him to UVA and they did a heart cath on him and found that he has pulmanary hypertension and he was sent home on oxygen and another medicine to help diliate veins and vessels in his lungs to help him breathe better. Now we are just waiting to see if this is going to be reversiable or not. They said he has alot of scarring on his lungs and possibly from the radiation treatments.
